Commissioner takes part in 9th Internet Governance Forum
Ms. Nevena Ruzic, Assistant Secretary General of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, presented Serbia's practical experiences to much a claim at the 9th Internet Governance Forum held in Istanbul in panels dedicated to human rights protection and the right to online privacy.
The Internet Governance Forum is an annual event which began at the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunisia in 2005. The Forum gathers representatives of all stakeholders with the aim of exchanging ideas and improving the sustainability, safety and development of the Internet, as well as with the aim of promoting respect for human rights and core values.
Ms Ruzic participates in the forum as Deputy Chairperson of the Consultative Committee of the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data. The costs of participation are covered by the Council of Europe.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the Association of Serbian Journalists, the Independent Journalists Association of Serbia and the NGO Freedom of Information Coalition, with the attendance of numerous representatives from the media, NGO's, public authorities and members of the diplomatic chorus, hosted an event today to commend the Right to Know Day, 28 September. The meeting was addressed by: H.E. Peter Burkhard, Head of OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ms NNE Koch, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at Transparency International, Mr. Sasa Jankovic, Ombudsman, and Mr. Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.
