A representative of the Commissioner will be addressing today, on 20 March, the international conference "Online Privacy: Consenting to your Future", which will be held 20-21 March in Malta. Ms Nevena Ruzic, Assistant Secretary General at the Commissioner's Office, is participating in the conference on behalf of the Commissioner and the Consultative Committee of the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data.  The international conference "Online Privacy: Consenting to your Future" is organized under the project "Consent" financed by the European Union, addressing the privacy issues of consumers/users in user generated content services in digital economy. The conference gathers a hundred experts in the field of online privacy in various professions and various stakeholders: the European Commission representatives, the European Data Protection Supervisor, the Council of Europe, universities, international citizens' associations, public authorities responsible for data protection or high technology crime, as well as the private sector. In addition to panel discussions, a number of representatives have been invited to address the meeting individually.

Ms Nevena Ruzic, who is a member of the Bureau of the Consultative Committee of the CoE Convention 108, will talk about the modernization process of the Convention 108 for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data.
