Fight against corruption - one of the five objectives of the new government

On the infamous global corruption perception index our country has for years been on disturbingly high positions, which it usually shares with African and Asian countries, and with the marks that worry even more. Even the highest mark which we have received so far speaks about the situation in the society in which “corruption got out of hand and represents a system problem.

In “Politika” of 25th May, there is a text by Dragoljub Zarkovic entitled “To Pozega via Strasbourg.” Since I was mentioned in the text in the scope of the function I'm performing, I have an obligation to react to it. Bearing in mind that the function of the Commissioner is, among other things, to protect the rights of journalists, I do not consider it desirable to argue with them.

According to the law, the document on the organisation of the Commissioner for Information Service comes into force after the commissioner has prepared it and it has received the consent of the National Assembly. At the time, I remember, I was almost unhappy because the consent for the first such document took almost half a year.

The OSCE seminar for the journalists from the towns in Sandzak

Novi Pazar - How to use the right to free access to information in research journalism - was the title of the seminar which last weekend joined together some twenty journalists from the local media and the reporters of Belgrade media from Novi Pazar, Raska, Tutin, Sjenica and Nova Varos.

With regards to the dilemmas about the end of the functioning of the Commissioner for Information

“In its first session after the appointment of the Government, the newly-elected composition of the National Assembly will harmonise the laws which regulate the Ombudsman and the exercising of the right of citizens to information with the Constitution, and will appoint the Ombudsman, the body in charge of enforcing the right to information, the Governor of NBS and the bodies of the State Audit institution.”
