Thanking Serbian Journalist Society (UNS) for awarding him the Special Charter for Personal Contribution in the Application of the Free Access to Information Act and Assistance to Journalists, Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for the Information of Public Importance, said that this is the recognition of work of the entire staff of the Commissioner's Information Bureau. Commissioner invited journalists and the media to use their right to free access to information guaranteed by the Serbian Constitution in their own and in the interest of the whole society.    

 Commissioner for the Information of Public Importance Rodoljub Sabic talked today with Head of the World Bank Office in Serbia Caroline Junger and her associates about corruption in Serbia and the work of anti-corruption bodies and agencies.       

Today, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance has again, in writing, warned all governing bodies that they have the obligation, according to Article 43 of the Law on Access to Information of Public Importance, to submit the Annual Report on actions that they have undertaken in 2006 with the goal to implement this Law.

According to the Law, reports must contain relevant data about the implementation of the Law, and especially on measures undertaken for upgrading its implementation.      

On the occasion of 10th December, International Human Rights Day, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance remarked that, in spite of certain and obvious improvements, a lot remains to be done in Serbia in the field of adoption of standards upon which, in the democratic society, the human rights and freedom are based, naturally including the free media, freedom of speech, free access to information and its free dissemination.
