The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection was addressed by a number of journalists with questions or requests for clarification regarding the announcement of the Ministry of Defense about the work of the Commission set up to determine responsibility for the crash of the helicopter, as well as in connection with the finding of the Commission itself.
The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic hosted today the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks and his delegation. In a long discussion the Commissioner informed the Council of Europe Commissioner about the development and results of the institution of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection and the situation in the field of free access to information and personal data protection.
The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has sent a letter to the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure urging for amendments and modifications to the Law on State Land Survey and Cadastre in order to remedy as soon as possible the identified issues with personal data processing in the cadastre.
The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection believes that the way competent authorities address the issue of liability for breaches of the Law on Personal Data Protection (LPDP) and the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance (LFAIPI) is inadequate as a deterrent and in fact encourages offenders to break the law.
