Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic considers that the Global Corruption Barometer (results of a survey performed in 69 countries), which has been published today by the Gallup International and the Transparency International, indicate in a similar way as the Global Corruption Perceptions Index published at the end of last year the stagnation in the fight against corruption in our country and hence the need for much more energetic implementation of all available anti-corruption measures.

In connection with that, Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also said the following:

Commissioner for information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic considers that ultimatums put by assignees of the Port of Belgrade to the Council for the Fight Against Corruption whereby they require from the Council to remove from its official electronic presentation posted documents are contrary to the Serbian Constitution and the Law on Free Access to Information which guarantee the right of the public to information held by the Government.

In connection with that, Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also said the following: 

Judging from communications and reactions from physicians and the Serbian Medical Chamber Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic considers that there are numerous dilemmas in connection with the future duty of doctor's offices, clinics, hospitals etc. to issue fiscal charge slips to patients for services provided as of 1 June 2009.

The Commissioner thinks that the Ministry of Health must make additional effort with other competent ministries in order to eliminate dilemmas if possible and prevent possible risks of processing of patients' privacy.

In connection with this, the Commissioner also said the following:

Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has published a Guide through the Personal Data Protection Act.  This is a comment of the law which should make very abstract matter of the Law, by comparison with European standards and examples from international experience, clearer and more applicable for a very wide circle of subjects, who apply the Law, or who want to refer to it in order to protect their right. Authors of the book the publishing of which has been enabled by EU financing, are experts with recognized international experience. Circulation of 2,000 copies shall be distributed to users free of charge, and the Guide text has been also published on the web-site of the Commissioner, www.poverenik.org.rs, in the column Documents, under title Guides. The Guide shall be officially presented to the public at the international regional conference dedicated to personal data protection, that shall be held tomorrow in Belgrade.
