The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance Mr. Rodoljub Sabic and Mr. Sasa Jankovic, the Ombudsman, will nominate Mr. Slobodan Beljanski for a member of the Administrative Committee of the Anti-corruption Agency. Mr. Beljanski, a lawyer from Novi Sad, is currently the president of the Republic Committee for Resolving Conflicts of Interest.
- This nomination will be formally submitted to the Serbian Assembly in a couple of days, i.e. by the deadline envisaged by the law - Mr. Sabic said to the press.
An agreement on Mr. Beljanski's candidature was reached several days ago, after considering several possible candidates, including the Program Director of Transparency Serbia Mr. Nemanja Nenadic.
According to Mr. Sabic, Mr. Beljanski was “nominated for his high personal and professional dignity”, but also for his experience as the president of the Republic Committee, the competences of which are being taken over by the Agency.
- The Committee for Resolving Conflicts of Interest showed a high level of necessary independence in its work and full readiness for the fight against abuse and corruption and Mr. Beljanski contributed considerably to that as a member and as the president - Mr. Sabic said. He added that Mr. Nemanja Nenadic declined nomination because of prior engagements.
