The Commissioner Milan Marinović and the Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković are participating in the International Forum on the Role and Importance of the Data Protection Officer in today's challenging times for Personal Data Protection, which is being held in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, organized by the Georgian Data Protection Service.

In addition to the Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner, the heads of the Data Protection Authorities of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the representatives from the company Meta participated in this important gathering as panelists. Apart from the official part of the Forum, the Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner also held a series of bilateral meetings with colleagues from other countries, where they discussed current issues in the field of personal data protection.

As part of an official visit to the Georgian Personal Data Protection Authority, the Commissioner signed a memorandum of understanding with Dr. Lela Janashvili, Director of the Georgian authority, and Dr. Dragoljub Reljić, Director of the Personal Data Protection Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Commissioner Milan Marinović and Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković are participating in the 49th Plenary Session of the Consultative Committee of Convention 108 (T-PD), to be held from 3 to 5 November 2025 at the headquarters of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

This session specifically discussed cross-border flows of personal data, the draft Guide to personal data protection in the context of "neurosciences", the current status of ratification of Convention 108+, and the draft Work Programme of the Committee for the period 2026 to 2029.

A special session is dedicated to the Committee's cooperation with the Council of Europe's "Access Info Group", engaged in the current state of the right to access information of public importance.

In addition to the official part of the session, the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner held a series of bilateral meetings with colleagues from personal data protection authorities.

On October 30, 2025, the third in a series of meeting was held at the premises of the Office of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection in Belgrade, where, at the highest level of personal data protection authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia, and now also North Macedonia, discussing adequate mechanisms for cooperation and action in relation to the processing of personal data initiated last year by the companies "Meta" and "X" for the purpose of training artificial intelligence, without prior notification of service users in the countries of the Western Balkans, as well as the common problem of failure to designate personal data protection representatives of certain multinational companies, which massively process personal data of citizens, on the territory of the said four countries.

The delegation of the Personal Data Protection Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina was led by Dr. Dragoljub Reljić, Director of the Agency, the delegation of the Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information of Montenegro by Ms. Maja Žunjić Mitrović, Director of the Agency, and Mr. Željko Rutović, President of the Council of the Agency, the delegation of the Personal Data Protection Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia by Ms. Elena Veljanovska, Deputy Director of the Agency, and the meeting was hosted by Commissioner Milan Marinović and Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković. The participants of the meeting agreed to call this type of cooperation among the four personal data protection authorities from the Western Balkans "Privacy4Balkans."

In a constructive discussion, to which all those present actively contributed, the Personal Data Protection Agency of North Macedonia was welcomed, the conclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding was announced, which will further confirm the importance of jointly resolving current personal data protection problems and effective regional action, while agreeing on the dynamics of a joint approach aimed at certain multinational companies not seated in the Privacy4Balkans gathered countries to designate a representative in accordance with the laws governing personal data protection in our countries.

On October 22, 2025, lecturers from the Commissioner's Office, Marko Milošević, Marin Cetinić, and Ivan Trišović, held a training on the application of the Law on Personal Data Protection for building managers from the Kragujevac area, organized by the off-site Office of the Commissioner in Kragujevac. About 25 managers attended the training. The emphasis was on recognizing the data processing activities present in their sphere of business, as well as on the correct interpretation of the authorizations from the law that regulates their powers in relation to the provisions of the umbrella Law on Personal Data Protection. Here, the fact that managers are obliged to obtain the Personal Data Protection Number, without clear authorizations from the law, as well as the procedure and legal framework for installing video surveillance in residential communities, stood out in particular. The training ended in a constructive discussion, and colleagues from the regional office provided great assistance in organizing the training, inviting the target group, and providing premises, strengthening the Commissioner's capacities and making his services more accessible in this part of Serbia.
