Commissioner and German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Participate in Implementation of Project "Support for Strengthening Rule of Law in Republic of Serbia" in Field of Personal Data Protection
The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection participates in the implementation of the project "Support for Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia" in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The goal of this project is to increase the capacity for achieving the goals and obligations arising from Chapter 23 - judiciary, fundamental rights in the process of European Union - Republic of Serbia stabilization and association.
In the said period, the Office of the Commissioner will hold 15 panel discussions and 15 thematic trainings in the field of personal data protection throughout Serbia. The purpose of the panel discussions is to identify difficulties in the application of the right to personal data protection and hence make future proposals for improving the legal framework, while the thematic trainings are primarily intended for personal data protection officers.
The first thematic training for public authorities will be held in Novi Sad on December 21, 2022.
The project "Support for Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia" (EU FOR FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION AND FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS) is financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), while the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is in charge for its implementation. On December 7, 2022, the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and representatives of the Cabinet, as well as the Head of the Reporting Department in the Commissioner's Office were on an official visit to the city of Valjevo, where they held a meeting with the mayor and his associates. As part of the visit and in the formal hall of the Valjevo Gymnasium, Commissioner Milan Marinović gave a lecture to the representatives of the authorities on the topic "Amendment to the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance", and the Head of the Reporting department, Mirela Zozi Jeković, gave a lecture on the topic "Publication of Information Booklets on the work of public authorities and submission of annual reports on activities under the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance".
Representatives of the Office of the Commissioner, acting Assistant Secretary General, Head of the Sector for Supervision Marko Antić, and Senior Advisor in the Cabinet of the Commissioner Dragoslav Đukić are attending the 70th meeting of the International Working Group on Data Protection known as the "Berlin Group", which will be held in London on November 29 and 30, 2022.
On November 26, 2022, the commissioner attended the ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Judges' and Prosecutors' Association of Serbia and the Association of Judges and Prosecutors' Assistants of Serbia, held at the Home of the Army of Serbia in Belgrade. On that occasion, the Commissioner was awarded for his exceptional contribution to improving the rule of law and judicial professions.
