Today the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance met the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia Predrag Markovic. In relation to this occasion the Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic made the following announcement:   

«The President of the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia guaranteed to me today that the first following cession of the Parliament will have on its order  vesting assent to the by-laws which establish and regulate the function of the Commissioner for the Information of Public Importance.    
Through vesting assent on the acts that I submitted to the Parliament in mid January, at least one of the basic premonitions for implementation of the Law would be established.    
During the conversation I pointed out that it is very important that this happens as soon as possible, especially bearing in mind the fact that the highest government bodies so far have not taken any steps they were obliged to take in order to secure the implementation of the Law on Free Access to the Information of Public Importance.     
The President of the Parliament promised that, with consultations with chiefs of members' groups, he will try to do so. »
