COMMISSIONER
FOR INFORMATION OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE AND PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

Expired

The service of the Commissioner for information of public importance has once again reminded the state authorities about their obligation to make and release Informator bulletins with basic information about their work. This obligation is not only related to main state authorities, including courts and prosecutions, but also regional authorities, local authorities and organizations with public jurisdiction.

The obligation to make and release the Informator bulletin is explicitly determined in article 39 of the Law of free access to information of public importance. In this occasion, the Commissioner for information Rodoljub `abi has declared: It is important that the authorities do not understand in a formal way, but as an opportunity to contribute to the realization of the prime idea of the Law of free access to information of public importance, the idea that citizens have the right to know in principle all about the work of the authorities. Therefore, the Informator bulletins should contain the most information that one can suppose to be of public interest.  Those are primarily information about jurisdiction and procedures of authorities, organizational structure and hierarchy of responsibilities, description of services given by the authorities and kind of information they own, and also information about the approved executive budget, available financial resources and the way of their use. After all, a good Informator bulletin can be also useful to authorities. Publishing information in this way, they not only contribute to their legitimacy, but also reduce the possible number of individual requirements for information”.
