Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Mr. Rodoljub Sabic, has in letter sent today to all Republic Ministers, pointed out to the problems important for application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance.
The letter points out, besides else, to the fact that seven out of seventeen Ministries in total have not fulfilled their legal obligation to compile and publish the information book on their work, and that the remaining ten, who have published their information book on the Internet, are not updating the information at all, or are nor regularly updating.
Regarding the contents of the published information books, the Commissioner has pointed out that for certain data, for which there is otherwise evident public Importance, are very meager or non existent. It is about data, like those on salaries, costs, public procurements, available equipment, number of employees or about the most important opinions and attitudes regarding law implementation.
Besides reminding that the failure to fulfill mature legal obligations to publish the information book is an infringement punishable by the law, the Commissioner has also stressed the need and importance that during the existing high level of lack of discipline of the bodies in power, from the republic to the local ones, regarding their legal obligations, Ministries as the most important bodies in power should give positive example followed by the others, regarding fulfillment of their obligations.
