Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Mr. Rodoljub Sabic, and the Ambassador Mr. Hans Ola Urstad, Head of OSCE Mission in Serbia and Montenegro have spoken today about the results of implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance. During the talks, it has been acknowledged that besides certain evident results, there are still problems seriously endangering qualitative implementation of the Law. Readiness of the OSCE Mission to assist efforts directed towards elimination of those problems has been confirmed.
On that occasion, the Commissioner, Mr. Rodoljub Sabic stated:
OSCE's Mission in Serbia and Montenegro has also in the previous period greatly supported implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance. Some important activities, as like, for instance, series of seminars for education of staff in the government bodies on the local level and issuing of Guide for the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, it would not be possible to implement without that support.
Today's talks have also confirmed that the OSCE estimates that the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance falls to the group of laws the quality implementation of which is very important for the total process of democratic reforms. I am especially satisfied because the Ambassador Urstad has confirmed readiness of the OSCE to assist qualitative aspects of that implementation as much as possible.
