In collaboration between the Service of Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Ministry of Internal Affairs, today in Belgrade was held a seminar dedicated to specific issues which appear in work of Ministry of Internal Affairs in application of the Law on Free Access to Information.
In work of the Seminar took part 34 representatives of the Secretariat of Internal Affairs and 16 representatives of Administrations of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic also was among participants who took part in work of the Seminar, and, on that occasion, he said:
"A high-quality response to obligations under the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance requires from public authorities to include in their work a lot of novelties. New knowledge is required, as well as new organisational solutions, new technology and logistics prerequisites.
The Seminar we held has shown two interesting issues. Firstly, the interest of those officials, which are within the Ministry of Internal Affairs authorised to proceed in accordance with the Law, to acquire new knowledge regarding different aspects of the right to free access to information. Secondly, the commitment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to apply new organisational solutions necessary for execution of its obligations under the Law.
The commitment that each Secretariat and each Administration within the Ministry of Internal Affairs should have a special authorised person who shall proceed according to the Law, will result in a better communication with the public. It would be good for others also to apply similar solutions, in particular, for main public authorities, where a traditional, but unnecessary and exaggerated centralisation still constitutes one of most significant problems in communication with the public."
