The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has conducted a training seminar for the staff of the City Centre for Social Work in Belgrade (with its departments) and the Secretariat for Social Security of the City of Belgrade to ensure improved application of the Law on Personal Data Protection and the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance.
The training event was held at the request of the City Centre for Social Work in Belgrade, which had formulated a number of questions concerning the exercise of the freedom of information, the rights and responsibilities relating to personal data protection and the protection and safety of the data it processes.
The Commissioner believes the training has been very beneficial and has in principle resolved many dilemmas faced by the City Centre for Social Work with regard to proper application of both Laws. In the Commissioner's opinion, a particularly positive aspect has been the desire and willingness of the staff of the Centre for Social Work (22 of whom participated in the training) to upgrade their knowledge, especially given the fact that centres for social work are also controllers of particularly sensitive personal data. The Commissioner will continue making every effort to help them better understand these laws to ensure their proper application.
