On Friday, 31 August 2012, the Working Party on Drafting a Model Whistleblower Protection Law will hold its first meeting – the most important event in the implementation of the "Whistleblower Protection" project funded by UK and Dutch embassies.
The content of the project, as agreed with the financiers, involves the following activities:
o Drafting of a model Law
o Analysis of the legal framework for whistleblower protection in Serbia
o Comparative analysis of the legal framework for whistleblower protection in other countries
o Public opinion polling in connection with whistleblower protection
o Organisation of five roundtables on whistleblower protection issues in different Serbian cities, attended by public officials, public and private sector employers, trade unions and other stakeholders
o Organisation of five workshops on whistleblower protection issues for NGOs in different Serbian cities
o Organisation of five workshops on whistleblower protection issues for journalists in different Serbian cities
o Organisation of an international conference on whistleblower protection
o Preparation and publication of a book which will explain the importance and benefits of whistleblower protection, present analyses of legal frameworks and explain protection mechanisms in different countries and set out a public policy framework for this issue.
The Commissioner intends to inform the public of all stages in project implementation on an ongoing basis.
